MCE sensitize drivers and traders.

The MCE of Wassa Amenfi East Municipal Assembly on Monday 18th January, 2021 sensitizes drivers and traders at the Lorry Station.

The sensitization is part of the effort of the MCE to support the “CLEAN WASSA CAMPAIGN” project being undertaken by the Western regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah. The Minster realizing that if all the MMDA’s that form part of the Western regional municipal Area can clean their respective jurisdictions, then the whole western will be clean. In light of this, the of Wassa Amenfi East Municipal Assembly headed by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Helena Appiah has taken bold decisions to make sure the Regional Minister’s dream comes true.

It is in response to the success of this project that the of Wassa Amenfi East Municipal Assembly has taken pragmatic steps in which includes the sensitization of key stakeholders to help keep its area of jurisdiction clean. The sensitization was to also pick days in the month that the assembly in collaboration with drivers and traders at the various lorry station will conduct clean up exercises.

Speaking at the programme, Hon. Helena Appiah said the municipal Assembly in its effort to keep the city clean, is conducting demolition, decongestion and clean up exercises around the bus stop and trading centres within the municipality, however, it was discovered that after the exercise, traders had returned to the sites. The sites are seeing a significant increase in traffic congestion and sanitation challenges as a consequence of their action. Due to this, the Assembly has decided to come to conduct an awareness campaign to educate the drivers and traders within the municipality to desist from such an act and aid to keep these places clean.
