HANDING OVER ROTARY INTERNATIONAL PROJECT TO WAEMA

The Rotary International in partnership with the USAID has funded the construction of seven (7) boreholes fitted with hand pumps and eight (8) institutional toilets in 15 beneficiary communities / institutions in the Wassa Amenfi East Municipality under the Infrastructure and Associated Capacity Development and Hygiene Promotion component of the project. The construction of these WASH facilities and capacity development were done in collaboration with Global Communities and Community Water & Sanitation Agency (CWSA) who were implementing partners for the Project.
The aforementioned projects are completed and had been handed over to the Wassa Amenfi East Municipal Assembly and the rep of various communities. The handing over ceremony took place at the Municipal Assembly Hall on Tuesday, 2nd November, 2021. All beneficiary communities were invited.
Rotary International facilitating interfaces between Citizens (Service Users) and Duty bearers (Service Providers) using the Community Score Card under the Advocacy component. The Community Score Card (CSC) is a two-way and ongoing participatory tool for assessment, planning, monitoring and evaluation of services.
Communities that benefited from this project were: Appiah Krobofom, Kofi Mane, Mansiso New Town, Ntowkrom and Japa Nyametease, Kweku Adu and Nkyease. The Rep from Rotary International, Mr Kwesi Rockson thanked the Municipal Assembly for acknowledging their presence and helping them to locate various communities that needs their help the most. He also thanked the reps from various communities for the good leadership skills they exhibited during the implementation of the project. He therefore advised communities that benefited to have a good maintenance culture towards the project.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Wassa Amenfi East Municipal Assembly, Hon. Frederick Korankye expressed his gratitude to Rotary International for executing such project in the Municipality. He promised to monitor the project and help the various communities in taking good care of them. Again, he pleaded with Rotary International to consider the Municipal Assembly in future projects because Oliver will always ask for more.
