This wonderful occasion was graced by Nananom of Ahanta Traditional Council, CEO’s of various Companies in the Municipality, Heads of civil society organisations, clergymen, reps from GES, reps from the Municipal Police command, reps from municipal fire command, reps from municipal immigration command, reps from municipal health directorate, headmasters and teachers of the various schools and students in general. The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Frederick Korankye in his address said that" he firstly thank God for making this program a successful one. Today marks his first independence celebration from the day he resume office as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE). He said as the country celebrates its 65 years of existence, which serves as an opportunity to reflect on its achievements, success and failure and that would also propel it to plan for a better future. He commended the organizers of the anniversary for the choice of theme:“Working together, bouncing back better”. Hon M.C.E explains the theme “bouncing back better” As a government agency committed to the development of the Municipality, we believe that the private sectors, public sectors, religious bodies and other stakeholders should team up in moving the Municipal to its desired destination. In truth, part of our problem has been that government tries to do too much, tries to take on far too much beyond its capacity. There are many projects in roads, water, transport, agriculture, etc. which, if properly structured, will attract the interest of stakeholders other than the Assembly. According to the MCE “Bouncing back better” means to change our mindset from one of individualism, to one of achieving our destiny as a group. It is meant to put us in charge of our own affairs, and make us truly independent. He again recommended the work of his Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo especially on free S.H.S policy which has had a great impact on Amenfiman Senior High School. He again, spoke on sanitation in the Municipality on the need to keep our surroundings clean as individuals. He commented on Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty Programme which the government introduced, where the Government disbursed a total of Ghc246, 480 to the beneficiaries in the 2021 financial year. Not leaving planting for food and jobs where the Assembly received and distributed 11,250 kg of Seed Maize and 4,000 kg of Seed Rice to 420 farmers in 2021. The assembly also empowered local businesses and had trained over 300 Small and Medium Scale Enterprises on various business Management Skills and have assisted to register 58 Small and Medium Scale Enterprises with the Registrar General`s Department in the 2021 financial year. Hon Fredrick Korankye ended his speech by saying Ayeekoo to H.E the President of the Republic of Ghana and his Government for the numerous Policies which have transformed our nation’s economy for the better.
