About one hundred and forty Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) within the Wassa Amenfi East Municipality have received equipment and cash support from the Assembly's Common Fund.

They received equipment ranging from sewing machines, spraying machines, over lock machine, fufu pounding machine, refrigerators and deep freezers, tricycle, roofing sheets, fertilizer, weedicides and insecticides among others.

The beneficiaries were selected and supported based on their business proposals received and vetted by a committee responsible for the disbursement of the fund at the Assembly.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Helena Appiah in her remarks reminded the PWDs' union members in the municipality that their share of the Common Fund was a revolving fund meant to support their economic empowerment through income generating activities which would make them self-reliant.

She said the Assembly and the Committee responsible for the disbursement of the fund would follow the rules to ensure that all PWDs benefit from the fund and appealed to previous beneficiaries to cooperate and support the work of the committee to make the need impact on their lives.

Nana Jakwa Pia, the chief of Adamanso who represented the Omanhene of Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area, Tetrete Okwamoah Sekyim II, admonished the beneficiaries to put the items they have received into good use so that they do not go out on the streets as beggars exposing their lives to the hazards on the streets.
