WAEMA Marks 62nd Independence Anniversary Celebration

The Wassa Amenfi East Municipal Assembly has joined the rest of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to mark the nationwide 62nd Independence Anniversary celebration under the theme” Celebrating Peace and Unity”.
The event in the municipality was held at Bassanyi’s Model School Park with participating schools drawn from thirteen basic schools in two circuits and Amenfiman Senior High while the other ten circuits celebrated it within their jurisdiction. The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Helena Appiah in her speech to mark the nation’s birth day said the theme for the occasion was appropriate to re-enforce in the people the spirit of togetherness because peace are unity were critical ingredients in the realization of the government’s agenda for national transformation and development. She urged the people in the municipality to ride themselves off all acts of violence and promote sustained peace and unity in diversity for better utilization of resources for national development. She re-iterated the government’s commitment to fully implement its educational policies and social interventions to afford every Ghanaian child of school-going age to have unrestricted access to quality education at all levels. The Municipal Chief Executive also made it known to the people that the Assembly has in line with the government’s educational interventions procured and distributed 1000 pieces of dual desks to some selected schools in the municipality to enhance teaching and learning. Over 3000 free school uniforms have also been distributed to schools at the beginning of the academic year. SOURCE: ISD
